  • Don Williams – COUNTRY MUSIC LEGEND LIVE IN RACINE

There are few American classics these days, but Don Williams is certainly one of them. With a warm hickory baritone that balances strength with concern, this ‘Gentle Giant’ draws his listener into the intimate world of an old friend.

Don Williams stops in Racine, Wis., Sunday, March 4, 7:30 p.m., at Memorial Hall. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 23, 10 a.m.  Reserved seating tickets cost $49.50. Applicable fees may apply. Tickets can be purchased at Festival Hall Box Office (M-F 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), via phone at (800) 745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Without a doubt Williams, whose hits like “Good Ole Boys Like Me,” “I Believe In You,” “Love Is On A Roll,” “Amanda” and “Tulsa Time” has always had a knack for writing songs that speak directly to peoples’ hearts.  Simple, direct, to the point—exactly the things that have made Williams’ music so compelling has helped him build an international audience and a Country Music Hall of Fame career.

Williams’ career began in the mid 1960s with the folk-pop group, Pozo-Seco Singers. After seven years with the band, the Texas native took a chance on a solo career that has amassed 17 No. 1 hits. Among his chart topping songs are “I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me,” “You’re My Best Friend,” “Say It Again,” “I’m Just A Country Boy” and “Till The Rivers All Run Dry.” Only four of Williams’ 46 singles didn’t make it into the Top 10 on Billboard’s Country chart.

Williams came out of retirement in 2010. His commitment to the emotion, the story behind each song has never wavered. Enlisting the help of his accomplished band, his music speaks to everyone.

Memorial Hall is located at 72 7th Street.  Visit DonWilliams.com.
